Trump announced a new wave of tariffs,

   including a 100% levy on imported branded drugs,

   unless a firm is building a manufacturing plant in the US,

   a 25% tariff on imports of all heavy-duty trucks,

   50% levies on kitchen and bathroom cabinets and

   30% tariff on upholstered furniture from 01st October.

US Initial Jobless Claims fell to 218K,

   beating expectations of 235K and

   down from 232K the prior week.

US Q2 GDP was revised higher to 3.8% from 3.3%,

   comfortably topping forecasts, while Durable Goods

   Orders jumped 2.9% in August after a sharp drop in July,

US core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE)

   Price Index included in the Q2 GDP report rose slightly

   to 2.6% from 2.5%. However, investors are primarily

   focused on today’s August Core PCE inflation release

Fed President Austan Goolsbee said that he is

   “somewhat uneasy with frontloading too many rate cuts”

   given signs of a cooling labor market and rising inflation.

Kansas City Fed President Jeffrey Schmid said that

   monetary policy remains “slightly restrictive,”

   which he described as “the right place to be.”
